IATEFL 2011 Brighton

April6

brighton-promo-330x200

Next week I am travelling to Brighton, a lovely city in the south of England. I studied there few years ago and I have really fantastic memories of places, events and people there.

I stayed in Hove, actually!

Brighton & my former classmates

However, this time it’s going to be brand new for me. I am really excited, thrilled and nervous as well because I am attending an annual IATEFL conference which takes place in Brighton this year.

IATEFL – International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language

Visiting such an international conference will surely be memorable and remarkable experience. I can’t wait to meet many Twitter friends from all around the world as well as former classmates and even my university teachers from Slovakia, make new friends and contacts, attend inspirational and motivational workshops and talks, and learn a lot in general.

Lots of fun ahead!

I am travelling from Budapest (another lovely city) early in the morning so I will have plenty of time to study the conference program properly.

I got the chance to attend the conference as a roving reporter for OUP after winning Diana Eastment Prize so stay tuned for tweets, blogs and more during the conference!

Before it all starts I have one question. Please, leave me a comment with your answer and we will see if IATEFL UK 2011 in Brighton meets our expectationsJ.

What are you looking forward to @IATEFL 2011?

If you paint in your mind a picture of bright and happy expectations, you put yourself into a condition conducive to your goal.

Oo difficult question, am looking forward to so much – a meeting of like minds, some excellent speakers but if I had to pick one then it would be catching up with my PLN and meeting #eltchatters such as yourself in person. See you next week.

I have to agree with Ceri – I can’t wait to meet all the amazing people I’ve tweeting with in the last couple of years, and in my home town too!

    Hi there,

I’m looking forward to catching up with friends from my PLN and colleagues I met at last year’s conference.
I´ve had a look at the programme and there are a number of presentations I´m very interested in watching. I suppose the last day plenary speaker is someone I´m keen on listening to as I do love his poetry.
Plus this year the great thing is that many of my work colleagues from Brazil are going too, so this means we’ll be able to multiply all we see and hear to many other teachers here in Brazil.
Hope to meet you personally Vladimira.
    See you,
    valéria

Looking forward so many things… but I’d have to agree with Ceri and Shaun meeting people from the PLN – some that I’ve grown quite fond of, attending great plenaries and workshops…and presenting. That last part is super scary too :-)

Breakfast on Friday eh? See you then!!!

    Dear Vladimira,

I wish I could attend the conference in person but I will try to follow it online and I will look forward to reading your posts about it.

    Good Luck

I didn’t know you’d won a scholarship! Congratulations! It sounds fun to be a Roving Reporter! I can’t wait to get there myself – I’ve made tons of plans already – (check out my last post) and once you’ve had a chance to study the program (which btw is loooong – you should start before the flight!) I’d love to compare notes (and flip coins) with you! Since I’m the very definitin of a newbie in all things, I don’t have too many people in my PLN so I’m hoping to add to that number at the conference as well as meet the people I do “know”… Can’t wait!
