About me
I am Vladimira Michalkova but friends call me Vladka.
I have MA in Teaching English Language and Literature and Ecology from Presov University in Slovakia.
I have a certificate in Teaching Business English from English Language Centre in Brighton.
I regularly write for Friendship magazine published in Slovakia and the Czech Republic
I am proud to be an iTDi Associate
I am an English language teacher in Slovakia where I teach general and business English. I believe that teachers shouldn’t be slaves of their coursebooks. That’s why I always try to enrich and accompany the coursebooks I use with extra materials or activities. I am enthusiastic and positive person and hopefully it helps me create a friendly atmosphere in my classroom. I am fan of colours, crayons (my favourite ones are “tickle me pink” and “spring green” from the set of 64
) and surprise in learning and teaching.
“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm!”

Hi Vladka!
Please give the names of some of the other crayons in your box. “Spring green” does sound hard to beat, though. Any nice blues with names?
Do your learners draw in their notebooks at all? I’ve commented on Marisa’s blog about the value of writing on and labelling their pictures in class.
David
Hi David,
.
yes, I try to convince my students (ususally adults)that they are drawing for their good
…my favourite blue colour is called “robin’s egg blue”.
It is amazing how they choose the names for colours really!
Thanks for comment!
Hi Vladka!
I am so glad to have met you in person a month ago, in France, after first connecting on Twitter! It was only three days, but I feel like I have known you for years! I am happy we still communicate via Twitter and e-mail. Hope to see you again soon…buddy!
Hugs,
Vicky
Hi Vladka,
Happy new year 2011! I’m Hom from Nepal. I’m new in the blog world and I have yet to learn how to tweet in English. I think ELT world cuts across Engish and is evolving as an alternative market and mode of education. I’ve been preparing for the CELTA may be in January, here in Belfast with hopes of new world and fears of being bogged down in the winter snow. It’s amazing to get in touch with long experience in teaching. I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Hom, Belfast

Hello Vladimira,
Thanks for the interesting ideas on learner autonomy. I am glad I have come across your blog. I am too interested in learner autonomy.
